About Kanzonas
I'm Keith Lyding. I made KanzonasPDF and KanzonasCAD.
Why
I have 20 years in the industrial electrical/controls field, which means spending a lot of my day with drawings: marking up PDFs of plans and schematics, and drawing electrical schematics and panel layouts. The tools for that are expensive, tied to subscriptions and accounts, and often more complicated than the job needs. AutoCAD Electrical in particular frustrated me enough that I started building my own. KanzonasPDF came from the same itch: I wanted a PDF editor that does markups and measuring well, without a subscription.
Important notes about the apps
- No account, and nothing uploaded: your files stay on your computer.
- No telemetry. The apps only go online to check for updates.
- Open source: anyone can read, check and build the code.
How they're built
I develop the apps with the help of AI coding assistants, and every change goes through me before it's released. Every release is built by GitHub's own servers straight from the public source code, and only after its automated tests and a self-test of the finished program pass. Bugs people report are usually fixed within days.
Why "Kanzonas"?
Kanzonas is really just a merge of Kansas and Arizona. My wife is from Kansas, and I'm from Arizona.
